I don’t know

single screen video installation
30 mins 38 secs

Terrorcore text video made with excerpts sourced from online help forums and a repetitive soundtrack sampled from dutch Terrorcore producer SRB. Terrorcore is a subgenre of hardcore music, in which wildly distorted samples from horror movies are set to fast paced beats, creating a dark and aggressive sonic landscape.

In this series of text music videos, texts sourced from online help forums are played at between 300 and 400 words per minute in time to different types of extreme music. Certain repetitive phrases are searched for in the forums, and the title of each work demonstrates the variation of phrase used (such as 'I just can't' or 'I don't know').  The proliferation of freely accessible text on the internet is used as a source of the existential scream of contemporary society coming from the combined voices of several individuals. The polyphony becomes one in these works, with an extended narrative of the continual 'I' formed and then channelled at high speed in to the mind of the viewer.

Best played loud.
