An artist book accompanying the project Infernal Monologue.

666 pages of performance scripts, research material on black metal, glossolalia, speech production and philosophy of language that has been translated into a specially commissioned illegible typeface. The typeface is based on the illegible semantic distortions of black metal logos, blurry the boundaries between image and text, sense and nonsense. Featuring warped and distorted imagery using source material from August Rodin’s ‘Gates of Hell’, Gustav Dore’s illustrations of Dante’s Inferno, and images of mouths from enunciation textbooks. Printed in an edition of 666, with pages numbering 666. The number of the beast.
